About us

The Creative Hub, where 'there be dragons' & other Marvels!

The original  Creative Hub dream was to form a literal “hub of creativity” which focussed on recycling, upcycling and which involved the local entrepreneurs.  The plan was to provide opportunities rather than job creation.  The township creatives needed a place to access the tourist spend, access to Wi-Fi, business developments.

Along with Covid 19 and the difficult to access affordable containers the plans had to be tweaked somewhat but the dream remains.

As a family and fully invested in hospitality we were knocked sideways when covid struck and the Wedding Venue had t0cancel  the next Saturdays wedding on the Thursday back in March of 2020 after having a covid positive guest from London.

Pivot was the word used and the Creative Hub had to become more deli orientated and now are the producers of the fabulous and highly rated Pappa Slick  pies, sour dough bread and ready meals.

Along with this, great coffee, local craft beer, ciders and gins,  local wines and unusual gifts, we started to be put us on the map.  We also designed a cycle flow track and mini pump track to create a family friendly environment to attract more visitors.

This fabulous one-stop shop is easily spotted from the R43 thanks to the life sized dragon and many other sculptures made from recycled materials.

The idea is to create a space for creatives from the township to have access to customers, to Wi-Fi for card payments and business development. The idea is to offer an opportunity for township creatives to run their own business rather than job creation.
With the disruptions experience during covid, this project is still a work in progress, but the dream is alive.
patrick chipangula - sculptures
Patrick, a Zimbabwean national, and the Creative Hub, formed a partnership during lockdown. He was looking for a shop front and we were looking for some excitement to attract attention.
He had interest from abroad so we registered as an exporter and in March of 2019 he exported a container to Australia. He now has several in the pipeline and is kept very busy.
His animals attract a lot of attention.
